André-Jacques Garnerin (French: [ɑ̃dʁeʒak ɡaʁn(ə)ʁɛ̃]; 31 January 1769 – 18 August 1823) was a French balloonist and the inventor of the frameless parachute. He was appointed Official Aeronaut of France.
